Clewpath ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Clewpath Recorder browser extension and the Clewpath web application. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. What We Collect

Data collected during recording sessions

When you initiate a recording session, the extension captures the following data from the active browser tab:

• Screen video — a video recording of your screen or browser tab
• Audio — microphone audio and/or tab audio, only when you explicitly enable these options
• User interactions — clicks, scroll positions, mouse movements, and keystrokes within the recorded tab
• Page content — DOM structure, text, and visual layout of the pages you record
• Screenshots — captured automatically during recording for use in step-by-step guides

This data is captured only while you are actively recording. The extension does not collect any data when a recording session is not in progress.

Account data

If you create a Clewpath account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials for login purposes.

Data we do NOT collect

• Browsing history or web activity outside of recording sessions
• Personal communications (emails, messages, chats)
• Financial or payment information
• Health information
• Location data

2. How We Use Your Data

Recorded data is used solely to:

• Generate interactive demos, video tutorials, and step-by-step guides from your recordings
• Process recordings with AI for voiceover generation, auto-zoom, and cursor smoothing
• Store your recordings and generated outputs in your account

3. Data Storage and Processing

Recordings are stored locally on your device until you choose to upload them. When uploaded, recordings are transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our servers for AI processing. Processed outputs are stored in your account and accessible only to you.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not transfer your data for purposes unrelated to the core functionality of Clewpath.

5. Data Retention

Local recordings remain on your device until you delete them. Uploaded recordings and generated outputs are retained in your account until you delete them or close your account.

6. Your Rights

You can at any time:

• Delete any recording or generated output from your account
• Export your data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Uninstall the extension to stop all data collection

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for data in transit and encrypted storage for data at rest. Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the extension or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
